I understand we’re all busy these days. We’re so busy we compete to talk about how busy we are. However, no one wants to feel like an afterthought, especially on a first date. So if you’re truly too busy to make a simple plan for a date, you’re too busy to date. It’s that simple.Read More
Men, I’m going to let you in on a little dating secret. In today’s world of 24-hour everything, 280 characters, constant distractions and abundance of availability, the thing that will ensure you the most success in dating is effort.Read More
This past weekend I went to the Bronx Zoo and did their new Treetop Adventure. It’s essentially various courses in the trees where you challenge yourself to climb ropes, scale ladders, zip line, balance etc. The courses range from beginner to expert. I’d done some of them before and really wanted to push myself this time.Read More
Let's get real, most of us are quick to judge these days. Rarely do we take the time to give people any latitude. We immediately assume the worst or are simply too busy to even take a second to try and understand where the people we interact with are coming from.Read More
How hard are you on yourself? Think about it. The things you tell yourself in your head every day, would you ever dare to say those things out loud to another person? How often do you put yourself down or disparage your abilities or your body? How often do you feel not worthy or less than?Read More
Congratulations! You’ve done the seemingly impossible. You’ve gotten me off online dating forever (hopefully) and made me insanely and deliriously happy.Although, you have greatly disappointed all of my social media followers. But I digress.
In all seriousness, I want to thank you and acknowledge you for so many things, so I thought I would write you a letter and share it with the world. Because that’s romantic, right?Read More
Every morning I leave my building to head to CrossFit. I’m dressed in my gym clothes and have my enormous bag on my shoulder. I’m also usually holding my protein shake and coffee. I don’t understand doubt. And no, I’m not a narcissist or a sociopath. I’m just me. But I’m also quite capable of acknowledging how much work I put into being me.
Let’s break it down for a second. I’ve been writing — professionally — for 20+ years. So when I pitch a job or I talk to a potential client, why would I ever think I’m not qualified or the role is too big for me? Of course I’m qualified. I’ve been immersed in this space and learning all I can to keep getting better for years. I’ve put in the work. Doubting I can do it doesn’t even enter the realm.Read More
My grandmother taught me to dive when I was probably 4 or 5. We would go to the town pool every day and she would instruct me, and eventually my little brother, on how to dive. We were fishes who definitely took naturally to water but diving is not something anyone enters into lightly. Even a child can see the danger of putting your head before your body and plunging into the unknown.Read More
Isn’t melancholy such a great word? It completely sucks, of course, to be melancholy, but saying you’re sad is just, well, sad. But saying you’re feeling melancholy somehow makes your sadness seem downright royal.Read More
This might be the best and most accurate thing I've ever seen. And the most sad. Ladies, WTF? Why is it so hard for you to accept someone saying something nice about you? Seriously! It has to stop. Now.Read More
